To protect the security of you and other users online, you may need to complete additional steps to use certain services. These extra confirmation steps help us ensure that the account in question was not created or used by a computer program or bot for abusive purposes (such as posting spam).
If you choose not to verify, you can still use your account, but you will not have access to certain services that could be used for abusive activities.
Tip: To complete the verification, you will need to use a mobile device.
Unlock Access
Important: Some verification options are not available for certain accounts, devices, and regions.
When you try to use certain services, the system will ask you to provide some verification information:
- Click Continue.
- Follow the on-screen instructions.
Unlocking access may take a few seconds. Once the loading page closes or the loading progress bar stops, your access will be unlocked. If the system does not automatically redirect you, you will need to return to the service to use it.
If you still cannot use the service after successfully completing the verification steps, please wait a few minutes and then try using the service again.
Below are some tips for different verification methods:
Tips:
- The phone number you use does not need to be associated with your account. If the system displays an error message telling you that your phone number cannot be used for verification, please enter another phone number that you have the right to use.
- To protect you and other users from abusive activities, we limit both the number of accounts that can be created per phone number and the carriers that are frequently used for abusive activities. You can use a family member's or friend's phone number instead, or try using a number from a different carrier.
- Verification costs depend on your mobile plan and service provider, but in most cases, standard SMS rates will apply. For details, please contact your mobile service provider.
This option is only available for phones and tablets.
Tips:
- If you receive a message stating that your device is not supported, check that your Google Play services are up to date and that your network connection is stable. Then, try verifying again.Learn how to keep your device and apps working properly with Google Play services.
- If the system displays a message indicating that the device has been used for verification too many times, you can try using a different device or try SMS verification. If you only have this one device, you can use a friend's or family member's device instead.
